New York and it's surrounding areas were recently hit by the devastating force of Hurricane Sandy - and even now the city is still recovering.
Simon Cowell pitched in with $25,000 to the New York Daily News' relief fund. His generous gesture came as residents in large swaths of New York City lived in Stone Age conditions a week after the storm, lacking gas, food, medicine, clothes and other staples of civilized life.
He said, “I’m proud to give my support to the Daily News Sandy appeal. This has been a terrible tragedy for so many families who have had their lives and homes destroyed. I hope everyone gets all the help they need to put their lives back together as soon as possible.”
Ben Stiller, Alec Baldwin and Russell Crowe are among other stars who have offered their help, while ABC is today holding a ‘Day of Giving’ which aims to encourage viewers to donate to victims of the hurricane.
Earlier, MTV announced that the cast of Jersey Shore will reunite for a special benefit to help the rebuilding efforts in the show’s hometown of Seaside Heights, NJ.
With help and financial aid pouring into the affected East Coast areas, life will hopefully soon start to improve for the residents.
